The Life of St. Mark
Mark traveled with Sts. Paul and Barnabas and later with St. Peter, who called him "my son." His Gospel is the shortest and full of action, with Jesus always on the move and the word "immediately" on almost every page.
Venice loves him above all. In 828 two Venetian merchants brought his relics home from Alexandria hidden under pork to get past the inspectors. His winged lion appears all over the city, and St. Mark's Basilica is built around him.
