The Life of St. Peregrine
As a hot-tempered young man in Forli, Italy, Peregrine once struck St. Philip Benizi, who was preaching peace. Philip simply offered him the other cheek. Peregrine was so moved that he changed his life, joined Philip's Servite order and became known for his kindness and penance.
Later in life he lived with a painful illness in his leg and prayed through the night before the crucifix. He lived to old age, serving the sick and the poor. People facing cancer and serious illness ask his prayers for courage, peace and hope alongside their care.
