The Life of St. Teresa of Calcutta
Agnes Bojaxhiu grew up in Skopje and became a Loreto sister teaching in India. In 1946, on a train ride, she felt Christ calling her to serve the poorest of the poor, and she founded the Missionaries of Charity, known for their simple white saris with blue stripes.
She cared for the dying, orphans and lepers, and her sisters now serve on every continent. When she won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, she asked that the banquet money go to the poor. Her advice was simple: "Do small things with great love."
“I was hungry, I was naked, I was homeless, I was unwanted, unloved, uncared for, and you did it to me.”
